Dafilon is a synthetic, non-absorbable, monofilament suture made of polyamide 6/6.6 (blue colored), polyamide 6.6 (black colored) or polyamide 6 (undyed). Dafilon blue and Dafilon undyed are used for skin closure and in plastic surgery. Dafilon® blue is also suitable for use in neurosurgery. Dafilon black is used for microsurgery and ophthalmic surgery. As with any nylon suture, although non-absorbable, progressive hydrolysis of the suture can result in a gradual loss of tensile strength over time.
